The crawler for ChatGPT search results. If robots.txt or a WAF blocks it, you will not show up in ChatGPT search.

ChatGPT-User and GPTBot

ChatGPT-User fetches a page when someone pastes your URL. GPTBot is training only. You can block GPTBot and still allow search.

llms.txt, sitemap, noindex

A short llms.txt helps agents quote the right pages. Missing one? Use the llms.txt generator. Sitemap and a missing noindex help crawlers use the URL at all.

ChatGPT visibility FAQ

Can you tell me if ChatGPT already cites my site?

No. OpenAI does not publish a public index lookup. This tool tells you whether crawlers are allowed to fetch the site. That is the part you can fix. After a robots.txt change, ChatGPT search can take about 24 hours to catch up.

Is blocking GPTBot the same as hiding from ChatGPT?

No. GPTBot is for model training. OAI-SearchBot is for ChatGPT search. You can disallow GPTBot and still allow OAI-SearchBot.

Why would Cloudflare block ChatGPT if robots.txt allows it?

Bot fight mode and WAF rules can return 403 even when robots.txt says Allow. Whitelist OpenAI’s published searchbot IPs, then re-run this checker.
